MISSION STATEMENT
Bluegrass Premier is the top girls lacrosse club in Kentucky. This past summer, we had over 250 middle school and high school players from almost 30 different schools. Our mission is to improve skills and confidence by providing excellent and experienced coaching, while providing a full range of focused individual and team developmental opportunities such as access to top regional and national tournaments, as well as college recruitment advice. We strive to be the primary mechanism for growth of girls lacrosse in the area and to raise the level of play in Kentucky!!
WHAT WE DO
Bluegrass Premier is a competitive, out-of-season club team that strives to provide local players a variety of instructional and competitive opportunities that enable them to reach their maximum potential. Our coaches are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and committed to helping raise the profile of Kentucky lacrosse.
Whether your goal is to play at the next level or just to get better to help your high school team, Bluegrass is the club for you!
If you join our squad, you will have a blast learning new skills, elevating your game, traveling to new places, making new friends, challenging yourself, and experiencing success. If this is what you want out of a lacrosse team, then this organization is for you!!
HOW IT WORKS
Starting in the summer of 2023, Bluegrass will be moving to a new system of how we organize our practices and traveling teams.
There will be 6 high school teams (5 travel and 1 practice-only) and 3 middle school teams (2 travel and 1 practice-only). Each team will have designated coaches that will be assigned to them throughout the summer. Our coaches will bring a well thought-out plan to each practice and do their best to ensure your child is getting the individualized attention they need. We stay up to date and utilize the latest lacrosse techniques and incorporate it into our practices. Players are expected to attend ALL tourneys that their team is scheduled to play.
The practice teams are designed for people who want to improve their skills for the regular season, but cannot commit to multiple tourneys per session or are not yet skilled enough to make one of the travel teams.
TESTIMONIALS
"Our family has been involved with Bluegrass Premier for over 5 years. The experience has been rewarding, challenging, and fun for the athletes. The positive team environment and competitiveness are top notch. We have been involved with other competitive sports teams and Bluegrass is by far our favorite. Bluegrass Premier has made my daughters better players as well as better teammates."- Janelle Foster
"My daughter's love for lacrosse starting when she was in 3rd grade; however being from Woodford County her options for playing girls lacrosse was very limited. Instead of giving up on her dream of playing college lacrosse, she decided to play on an all boys team for the next several years. It wasn't until middle school when Brittany got a chance to play and learn the game of women's lacrosse, when a Lexington school offered her to play for their girls team. At this time, after the coach saw her potential she suggested we contact Pat with Bluegrass Premier out of Louisville. With Louisville being over an hour away from our residence, we discussed the time commitment this would take each week to dedicate to practices and games. I reached out to Pat and he suggested she attend an upcoming try out for Bluegrass Premier. With Brittany not knowing one single person, the day of the try-out was a little intimating at the beginning, but immediately subsided as the coaches and the veteran girls welcomed her with open arms. From the start of introductions to 4 years later, the nicknames of "Woodford" and "Woody" have been casted into Bluegrass history books. I can honestly say looking back over the last 4 years, we made the right decision for Brittany as her lacrosse skills and IQ have improved expediently. I give all of the Bluegrass coaches credit, who each are truly lacrosse professionals and skilled in every aspect of the game. I must say I will miss the Bluegrass family and would recommend others who wish to take their daughter's lacrosse game to the next level choice Bluegrass Premier.” - Rodney Sherrod (Woodford's Dad)
"My daughter and I have been a part of Bluegrass Premier family for close to 5 years. Speaking for my daughter, she has absolutely loved being a part of this lacrosse club. The coaches pay attention to every kid and genuinely want each of them to do well. My daughter has been one to ask the coaches many questions after practice, and they have always been willing to stay later to answer and work with her. They always show an abundance of patience and encouragement to her. (For that alone, I am so grateful!)
The coaches are tough on them when they needs to be, only because they want to push them to their full potential. They know how to balance hard work ethic with encouragement and fun to make an enjoyable experience every practice. Because of this formula, my daughter looks forward to every single practice and tournament! Every single coach on staff has a passion to grow the game, no matter which school your child attends. My daughter has first hand experience where many of the Bluegrass coaches encourage her not only during club season but during her school season, even if she's playing against their team. ha! They've sent her messages after a game congratulating her performance. That shows they truly care about her and her lacrosse career goals."- Shannon Downs
"Bluegrass Premier has been a great place for my own daughter, as well as many other players from our middle school girls lacrosse team. The improvement among the players that had attended Bluegrass during the summer was noticeable which helped the entire team during their season. The coaching and facilities are top notch and they do a fantastic job of meeting each player where they are and developing their skills, knowledge and love of the game from there in a FUN environment. Whether they are a new player and still working on the basics or a player with several years of experience, they will be challenged while having a lot of fun and meeting new friends. I would recommend it to any player that is serious about improving their play!"- Leslie Sheehan
"I cannot possibly endorse Bluegrass Premier strongly enough. Bluegrass Premier provides exactly the right amounts of excellent coaching, extraordinary sportsmanship, and wonderful camaraderie all parents look to get for their children. Moreover, it affords younger players the chance to grow their skills during the off season, all while continuing to grow friendships with their peers, and it affords more senior high school players the chance to have their skills observed and recognized by college coaches from all levels of schools, from Divisions I, II and III, at national and regional tournaments. This last benefit is particularly important because Kentucky high school lacrosse players and other regional high school lacrosse players have few other chances to be discovered otherwise. Bluegrass Premier is not only by far the best women’s lacrosse club program in Kentucky and the region, it is unquestionably one of the finest in the country. Congratulations and keep up the great work!"- Joe Hamilton
"Thanks to Bluegrass Premier Lacrosse, my daughter has many acquaintances and friends from outside her school who share a love of the sport. She also has supportive coaches who know how to build lax skills while keeping it fun! Every tournament has been an adventure and a valuable learning experience." - Rose Geis
"My daughter loves Bluegrass Lacrosse! Top notch coaching, great kids and parents! It has been a wonderful experience watching the development of her game knowing she is having FUN during the process!"- Sue Anne Mueller
My daughter played Bluegrass for six years and thoroughly enjoyed her experience, in addition to getting a lot of great instruction! Pat also incorporates many great coaches on his staff so that the girls have good coaches but are also exposed to different coaching styles and practices. At Bluegrass, my daughter was surrounded by higher caliber teammates, which helped improve her skills as well. Playing Bluegrass with girls from other Louisville-area high schools allowed her to make new friends, many of which she would play against during the regular season. Many things at Bluegrass prepare you for the "real world" (responsibility, being treated like an adult, making friends in new situations, teamwork and leadership). Some of our fondest high school memories are traveling and practicing with Bluegrass! - Patti Landoch
